Nonfiction Submissions

We are looking for authors with unique expertise or compelling narratives in the following focus areas:

  • Marketing and Business

  • Thought Leadership

  • Media and Entertainment

  • Personal Development

  • Memoir

What to Submit:
Provide a detailed overview of your book’s:

  • Concept

  • Purpose

  • Target audience

We accept book proposals in the following formats:

  • Detailed outlines

  • Author bios

  • Links to relevant speaking engagements (e.g., a TED Talk, podcast, or professional presentation).

Fiction Submissions

We are drawn to compelling stories with strong character development, unique voices, and engaging plots. We strongly encourage submissions from underrepresented voices, including BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+, and writers from marginalized or unconventional perspectives.

We welcome completed or near-completed manuscripts in the following genres:

  • Literary Fiction

  • Thriller/Suspense

  • Young Adult (YA)

  • Romance

  • Short story collections (highly selective)

  • Poetry (highly selective)

What We’re NOT Currently Accepting:

  • Children’s books

  • Graphic novels

  • Erotica

Simultaneous Submissions: Allowed, but please notify us immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.

Submission Materials

To ensure a smooth review process, please include the following in your submission:

  1. Cover Letter

    • Briefly introduce yourself, your project, its status (completed or near-completed), and why it’s a good fit for Kingbird Press.

    • Include relevant information about your writing experience, credentials, or platform.

  2. Synopsis or Proposal

    • Fiction: A 1–2 page synopsis summarizing the plot, themes, and characters, along with the first 10 pages of your manuscript.

    • Nonfiction: A detailed book proposal as outlined above.

  3. Author Bio

    • Share a short bio highlighting your expertise, writing background, or achievements.

Formatting Requirements

  • Submit files in PDF or Word format (.docx).

  • Use standard formatting:

    • 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.

    • Include your name, email address, and manuscript title on the first page.

How to Submit

Submissions are accepted exclusively through our ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM.

Timeline and Feedback

  • We aim to respond within 2–4 weeks of submission.

  • Unfortunately, due to volume, we cannot provide individualized feedback on submissions we decline.

What Happens Next?

If your submission is a good fit:

  1. We will request the full manuscript or proposal for further consideration.

  2. You may be invited for a follow-up call to discuss the project and next steps.
